The Cape Hatteras National Seashore is moving forward with repairs

to Buxton Beach

A special permit was issued to Dare County to fix

the uh southernmost portion of the beach

It's near a former defense site really close to the

former spot of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

There's been issues in the past with dangerous chemicals exposed

by beach erosion

The plan is to install new steel sheet piles to

help prevent the erosion
