with great anticipation to the upcoming A

And thank you for making the effort to come to

charlotte and taking an interest in our outstanding football student

athletes and coaches

It's been a pleasure getting to know you over the

last 18 months and I'm grateful for our ongoing relationships

The entire A

C

C

Family and those associated with this tremendous league have been

so wonderful to me Laura and our five Children and

find out that war is here

Our oldest is here and our youngest

Any of the train and the both with so contains

great to have you here with me and in attendance

in the days ahead I look forward to spending time

with you as much as we can talk about A

Football

I'm already it remains

I believe there's no better conference in the country when

you combine our incredible world class institutions broad based sports

offerings and our commitment to maximizing the educational and athletic

opportunities for students

The leadership at our 15 schools remain second to none

And I'd like to thank the board of directors led

by the president Minister Price the athletic directors faculty athletic

reps and senior women's administrators who continue to build upon

the long history of balancing academics athletics and integrity at

the highest levels

In a few minutes

We'll look ahead to the upcoming new football season and

I'll make sure to address some of the topics in

the news recently right now though let's look back at

Collective high level of academic success beyond the competitive competition

and classrooms

The league's ongoing work and racial and social justice health

and safety and professional development continued to shine in september

Arlene Hbcu night award which will be presented annually and

was created to honor individuals affiliated with the league who

have made an impact in the areas of racial and

social justice

An initiative of community for racial and social justice to

affection called for You know including the first male and

female athletes of colour to integrate the athletic teams in

each of our 15 institutions

The least commitment was also highlighted during the second annual

fall winter and Screen Unity release which provides a meaningful

way for the conference

To highlight our collective commitment as part of mission culminating

court issues for the year was truly transformational and educational

experiences took place this past weekend

More than 45 student athletes administrators and commons

Office back took part in the journey to two of

the centers of the civil rights movement in Selma and

Montgomery Alabama

This amazing experience highlighted by March across the Edmund Pettus

Bridge Site of 1965 Bloody Sunday Attack

It's hard to describe the powerful emotions

So throughout the entire weekend to be certain it was

a humbling experience and clear highlight to receive a key

to the city from Mayor Selma James Perkins

It was most comforting to me oh to be surrounded

by a younger generation who was committed and energized to

carry on the necessary work in pursuit of true equality

This past May the A

C

C

Health and Safety summit was held in partnership with the

A

C

C

Sports Medicine Association bringing together our campus professionals to collaborate

and share best practices

It was an outstanding event that not only attendees but

more importantly will have a positive impact On our 10,000

student athletes to further raise awareness of mental health and

wellness

We used a series of 28 men basketball games as

part of the 2021 SEC

Big 10

Challenge to amplify the importance of mental health and to

help break down stigmas related

Additionally provided access to the column meditation app to every

student athlete coach and administrator in the league

Thanks the responsibility to enhance the overall development of our

coaches was evident a series of programs this year in

december the first Cold War of coaching the whole athlete

academy was completed the virtual immersive development program

Fire office equipped coaches with tools to better support the

modern nation and the A

C

Professional development academy finished up a few weeks ago and

the teacher student islands coming together as part of a

four week program

The academy is working alone designed and delivered by the

administrators system participants and establishing and refining skills for long

term success in their lives as you can surmise

There's no greater priority than a successive helmet of these

brilliant student athletes

We remain committed we remain committed to our mission of

providing the highest quality experiences and opportunities for them as

well as for our coaches and stand as other ones

where student athletes have rightfully been able to earn money

related to her name and likeness over the past year

It has provided some outstanding opportunities that we all celebrate

However the lack of a single enforceable standard for N

I

Across the schools and all states has created an environment

nuisance and actually labeled this and I o are disrupting

recruiting fair regulation of the session for fair competition

We all know and I'll has a result

No one inspired when it first came into effect last

july

How did it happen And I know rules differ from

state to say regulation is fairly non existent

It forces the rules

It's incredibly challenging the A

Student athletes that make up our student athlete advisory committee

who are here to move today continue to engage with

members of Congress on finding a regulatory solution that is

nationalist show and fair while still allowing for outstanding opportunities

I'd like our sad duty to stand up and be

recognized this morning if you please

City legislators continue to seek recruiting at that advantages and

as legal challenges continue to Children forcing the rules only

Congress can provide consistent standards and the appropriate protections implement

And there's no question that historic legislation has positively impact

the lives of women and provided a pathway in their

continued support of achieving gender equity in college athletics

We're proud to recognize and celebrate Top nine during the

upcoming year

continue to further fairness and equity when for more than

CC Women's gymnastics in 20 to 24 Our conference just

15 women's sports and 13 dinosaurs among our peer conferences

No league will sponsor more sports and perhaps more importantly

leaving a number of women's offers in the A

C

C

Broad based programs and opportunities

Married any college shorts

As I mentioned earlier we continue to be blessed with

tremendous leadership and for the first time in history

S seven ways are all females

In addition with three females living in respect to the

athletic department's HCC has more female than our peer conferences

combined

But we are certainly excited to be leading the way

There's still so much work to be done yet at

a time when they're celebrating games and women's participation were

also defending those games from reel or perceived threats and

apologize

Let us criticism by some forget that we feel beyond

football and men's basketball college and what happens within the

context of higher education on campuses that pride themselves on

diverse offerings academically and extracurriculars

Those two pay for play system alone disregard the collegiate

principles of diverse offerings for decades

Financial power of two sports that generate rather than to

fund them ourselves as well as other sports commonly referred

to anoint the sports

Many of those olympic sports student athletes only path to

college is a sport that they leave enriched the life

our nation relies on these sports to fulfill spots on

team USA Which had nearly 8% current and former allegiance

on its last summer olympics last year

What happens to those games Title nine Olympic sports cannot

be supported What happens to the olympic movement that makes

us all proud of those opportunities disappear

These are hard questions that must be considered as college

athletics continues to change and evolve is not perfect

It should and will be improved

But there has never been a better time student apathy

than right now

And I see that first hand the future is right

but we need to be diligent and focused as we

address the threat to what is the sporting enemy of

the world The uniquely american combination of academic and athletic

development and his college sports

And I'll opportunities universal support services related to academics medical

care mental health career development outside of sport

The best coaches facilities for their athletic development fundamentally

We are all responsible for the greater good of the

enterprise

Let me repeat that

We are all responsible for the greater good of the

enterprise

500,000 students fans

College athletics switch In a three way intersection of competition

Education and entertainment and all

We must exist in a balanced way

Education matters

Winning matters resources matter the ecosystem is not similar to

our respective neighborhoods that we live in and keep them

and diverse

It's a priority

And there will always be a variety of gated upper

class

Middle class were more modest In times of great change

and that's certainly that's a fair description in the last

25-15-10 years and really the last 12 months any new

structure in the muscle men not like you

This includes national governance meteorites membership and see a CFT

The list goes on and on

We are not the professional race

This is not or NBA light

We all remain competitive with one another but this is

not and should not be a winner take all Or

zero sum structure

College athletics have never been elitist or singularly commercial

It's provided countless individuals with a path to higher education

and therefore life changing possibilities

Access opportunity

A modern rules based structure should all remain priorities continue

to involve

I will continue to do what's in the best interests

of the A

C

C

But we'll also strongly advocate for college athletics to be

a hate healthy neighborhood

Not two or 3 did two years

Resources may be different but access education and competitive opportunity

will remain the Foundation going forward From 1975 to 95

Basketball financially and popularity As it moved from 30 to

64 teams

This resulted in an event that continues to be embraced

by college fans media student coaches

We must acknowledge this is a recipe and lesson college

football may want to learn from but do it in

a way that is safe for those who play that

school

Access to championships is essential

So many moods

We should keep this in mind as we try to

balance education competition and entertainment in today's disruptive environment As

racist football

The reason nearly 700 of us have gathered

We welcome four new coaches into the lead

I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to know each other

There are terrific additions to our standing group of coaches

As of today we're only five weeks away Nearly five

weeks away from kickoff With zero kicks off 27 and

from the 27th monday september 5th A CT football program

played 14 games in 10 days including 12 games over

five straight days

Beginning thursday september 1st two later day it will be

quite a weekend for our confidence and I'm going to

try to make every one of those games

The football schedule continues to be the strongest in the

country with our teams playing 2028 against opponents 89 conference

games against teams ranked in the final 2021 20 pole

and all 14 teams play

With 7 22

There's no shortage of exciting days this season and we

appreciate our amazing television farmers providing national platform for our

fans

Speaking of television partners we were thrilled in December to

celebrate full distribution making a six network available to nearly

90 million households

Something we talked about this last year which was a

real concern for us

It was a moment in the short history of the

CCN and we appreciate

and burke magnus in partnership with this network that continues

to be a priority to increase football program in your

Road trip

Last august is in each football program on the respective

campus Campuses result in 145 times shows featuring interviews behind

the scenes footage toward the facilities and more

In a few weeks A CCN will embark on this

year's delivering more access to our schools and amazing coaches

Premier football program

The huddle took to the road last year the parents

on multiple campuses the Subway Football championship game and at

in Atlanta This year your police announced will be back

on the road during 2022 season They will begin to

zero in Chapel Hill last word

Several other additional stops around in the weeks and months

ahead of the football season

During the off season network at a significant football content

including a two hour primetime show to unveil it 2022

football schedule

The addition of all 14 spring games for the first

time and coverage of both signed days and our pro

days offers

We are thrilled that these issues will be ongoing and

enhanced this year

In addition to the already celebrated priorities and successes A

CCN will launch a new afternoon show that will air

weekdays A C

Hosted by Mark Packer going to be coming out of

witness protection programs last year

In june Will debut from 4 - seven on Monday

August 27

The show will have a football focus and deliver news

and commentary from across the conference on a variety of

areas

The SEC continues to work to enhance elevated in the

best position in football for the long term we have

in a number of areas

We appreciate the tremendous work of our head football coaches

and athletic directors who give freely of their time to

collaborate on football specific matters between two groups that we

started last year between the joint E head football coach

subcommittee and our football officiating subcommittee

We are constantly in connection with our programs and provided

with tremendous insights on the national well the SEC has

been significantly involved in changes that have been made including

deregulation of conferences football championship games starting pre season camp

earlier without practices to enhance the health safety and welfare

of our analyses

In the current schedule model

The champions of the Atlantic and coastal divisions will meet

on the 1st Saturday of December at Bank of America

Stadium

And we remain extremely appreciative of our relationship with the

charlotte foundation and the Carolina panthers

Following the championship game weekend

We will continue to celebrate post season With our 11

remarkable bowls that are here with us today

The capital one lunch bowl games on partnerships and we

are so proud of the honorable experiences goals provide college

football bowls and gold season matters to the A

And in a healthy future of college football Before providing

final comments related to national mass state

Let me highlight recently announced football schedule model that begins

next season and runs through 2026

The new model will include three primary bonus every year

While facing the other teams twice during the four year

site

What's at all Once I grow this will let me

make atlantic and coastal divisions

I know some of you are very sad about with

the top two teams now based on conference winning percentage

competing in the Subway A

C

C

Football championship game

Overall the future schedule model advice significant enhancements for our

schools and conference

But the most important being for our student athletes having

the opportunity to play every school will hone away over

a four year period in closing

Let me briefly address a few other topics

The A

C

C

Continues to be supported and expanded college football playoff

As you know we took what we believe was a

necessary this is based on what we feel we must

all come together to address before Russia model

The implementation implementation of a 365 day calendar health and

safety and several other items

Engagement is ongoing with our schools and my fellow commissioners

started prior To the expiration of the currency of the

contract of 2026 With two great things in april and

True and I'm confident that our concerns concerns will be

addressed and a new model with greater access ultimately come

to pass

We will do our part of this is to make

it happen

But there's more work to be done

It's been an honor to serve as a member of

the constitution and fascination cities following the constitution Committee work

from last august to january the transformation community

Then it began its diligent work

We're in the process of examining many aspects of individual

one college from championships to the role of the S

From the infraction process

Two membership criteria

As you know the committee has already made public several

recommendations and we expect more in the months ahead

That could significantly change what we do and how we

do it

This includes prioritizing areas that involve the enhancement of a

supernatural experience streamlining the N

Rulebook modernizing transfer rules and implementing a timely process and

dealing with fractions cases

It's a privilege transformation committee and I'm proud that the

sec has a seat at the table help me shape

what comes next

Of course the recent announcement of two pac 12 schools

and moved to the Big 10 in 2024 set off

a flurry of conversations both inside and outside of our

league

Well I won't go into the details of those conversations

I will tell you that while the is strong we

are continually evaluating all options that could further strengthen our

conference and we are engaging

I'm going to with our partners

There's been a lot of rumors and speculation the last

few weeks and I understand all on answers and certainty

with that said these decisions will impact our member institutions

for years to come

And all options

All options must be careful

But today is all about football and I cannot wait

for unique and speak without sand schools coaches and student

islands

We have an exciting season ahead

It's actually this morning and I just want to thank

When you make comments about two or three gated neighborhood

considering where the revenue gap will continue to grow and

where the A

And Right last 20 minutes we got sprinkling about what

the sec is nationally

All managers

We are one of the leaders in the country and

all those areas I talked about except and that's been

brought to life with a recent move of us a

year ago

We were talking about So truly over the last 18

months it's been my primary focus

We're able to get distribution done

We have some other things coming forward relative to what

we're going to do in partnership with some revenue consultants

that I'm really excited about being able to release that

maybe by the end of the month we're looking at

on tv contract work engagement daily

I would just say almost daily With our with our

partners at ESPN and I only talk about it because

we are 5050 partners on our network

And so they're motivated

We were motivated and we've come together to to have

some discussions about what would be the next generation for

for the A

C

C

Doesn't mean we're gonna make a move doesn't mean we're

not gonna but all options are on the table

Revenue is certainly one piece and a really big piece

as we move forward

But I will say we need all community telephone

And I mean when you think about were probably in

the gay community one of five maybe maybe you know

people have a different line of it really doesn't

Taking away from wanting to continue to try to find

new ways to generate better for our confidence

Just want to backtrack a little bit on to see

a piece of um you had said initially that there

was basically too much going on in the N

World the world of college sports to consider that proposal

with the change in leadership eventually atop the M

Uh are you prepared to sort of disconnect those things

down and the attention unrelated to sort of transformation Because

it seems like those things are going to with the

transformation

See something at the end of august

Um that's pretty substantial with more work to be done

I don't think he says they're walking along together along

with a new president

I don't expect us in september when we get together

to line up and announce it when you see a

piece structure

We made great progress for our last two meetings both

in april and in june and everybody's motivated to come

together

So I don't I don't know that there's a separation

now with those things we'll see

Um but I think the healthy safety 365 review

I mean we've talked about access automatic qualifiers

I mean there's a lot of things to discuss but

those things again we've got to tell you I do

not think really separated that much

Take our next question over here on the left on

the expansion uh cutting them down

I don't know that It's the only solution

I think you have to look creatively

We've been doing that over the last year

We're gonna continue to do that all neighborhoods and it's

all trying to find ways to close that gap

So I know where our 17 you know ar 15

schools are

We are really aligned to try to find solutions to

that right

But it can't be at the expense of all the

other things that we're doing

And so there's there's a really good plan for us

to move ahead again considering all of our options and

these kinds of times you have to do that

This is unique

What's happened over the last for months I'm sorry

Thinking about take our next question over here on the

far right on the edge

Uh you obviously have been in the midst of search

for new headquarters

Can you give us an update on that and also

the North Carolina

State Legislature included incentive funds that would the dependent on

having more championship events in the state of north Carolina

If that's what you end up doing

Would you be willing to meet that mandate and will

receive the money

The process has been tremendous And everything that we put

a timeline is such an important decision that you can't

put a three-month six month and the month we started

last summer 12 months now

New marks let us incredibly well

We started with 1820 different cities

We have 3/2 states

These things take a life of their own when you

start to deal with state legislators and senators and economic

development and mayors

And in the end we're trying to get down to

summer to finish it off is what are the three

proposals to bring forward to the board and by the

city north Carolina off the generals uh generous of government

designed that legislation and pass the budget will be part

of the two ar 15 presidents for decision

And so we're hopeful to have a decision

You know I would say in the next month or

two but again I don't really want to put an

artificial time around because this thing has had the canes

that it's gonna take

But I feel tremendous about all that has heard

How you doing three point conversion

You spoke with talk about the A

Wanting a expanding college football playoff

Did they have any anything with this with you guys

going to 355 scheduling next year It did have an

awful lot

And again when you talk about an expanded playoff like

to like to crown the champion away that you have

the two best teams in your conference playing for that

championship game and prior to the you know the passing

of the recent legislation you would have to go into

divisions in order to have a championship game

And so now the ability for teams to line up

in a singular division for there be an opportunity to

play within that cellular division eight games and then we'll

crown the champion based on winning percentage

So it definitely had

I'm curious with the way the alliance kind of dissolved

You've used a lot of terms like the greater good

being in the same neighborhood

Do you feel like the other commissioners share your mindset

or approach I do

I think we all understand that the people responsibility in

our own confidence

I'm probably work that would give the alliance it was

a big decision to do what they do

That's not for me to judge

Uh they did what they felt was the best interests

of the conference

But We did some really significant things together over a

period of 12 months including legislation that we just talked

about

Earlier in my remarks

So we have to continue to try to come together

Really looking forward to working with brad Commissioner

been a great friend and mentor and somebody that I

just think the world of just announced obviously retirement maybe

6 8 months ago but officially retires in the last

month

I can see a lot of things about

and excited for Canada and her family to do what

they're gonna do the next chapter

I'm looking forward to working with Brett

Just like I do with George just like I do

it with Gray and es commissioners

Um And then I think we have a Really Nice

Group of 3 to Commission

So we're gonna have to come together

We're gonna have to continue to work together and I'm

optimistic being able to do that

As wild as the last 12 months have been the

unexpected departures of big time programs to other conferences

How confident are you that you will be able to

maintain your current membership of all your schools in the

A

C

C

That they will not defect

And also is it important to reevaluate potentially try to

talk to Notre dame about joining the conference in football

to help strengthen the A

C

C

Going forward

Um all 15 schools and I'm confident that I'm staying

together

That's all I've heard in all the calls that we

had

We want to work together to try to provide more

resources to our community

So we're all on the same page

I sat here talking about Notre dame we continue to

remain close to Notre dame then you know how we

feel They know that we would love to add them

as a football member in the conference but we also

allow some respect their independence

Having worked there two Children they're going to school right

now a student athlete

I know what independence means to Notre dame

So you respect it and and I know that if

there comes a time that in order Day would consider

moving to a comment away from independence

I feel really good

And we were further and I have been talking about

expansion and you said that everything's on the table All

options

Are you having those ongoing conversations with teams across the

country And is this something that you're really heavily looking

at in the expansion of the membership saying one of

the I'm not gonna talk about any of the details

about who we have we have talked about but we

had lots of really good discussions within the A

C

C

And I think you have to be thoughtful you gotta

be smart you gotta be strategic making the move to

make the move

Doesn't make any sense

And in the end what is the value that ends

up coming back to the conference If you were to

expand and all those things have to be under great

scrutiny and dialogue and ultimately some kind of formation of

what we think is best

The next question in the back middle aisle to our

left

They deal with

It's been suggested by some including some

distribution

Are there discussions ongoing about worrying performance and brain bound

when the constitutive serving members they would go back to

what I said earlier and been asked all options

And so when we look at revenue look at closing

the gap look at generating more

You're looking distribution at all is a similar conversation

We're gonna take our next question from the 3rd row

on the right hand side ST ST what are your

first of all So player having money regulated I think

there's every minister in the country believes the ability personalities

to monetize but it has rocked our college one of

the world and we all have kind of vowed to

stay within a certain certain boundaries relates to rules and

regulations

This is one that doesn't happen right now

So that's where the money is is coming to

And that's where the uneasiness that I say we feel

within our conference and I know other commissioners will in

their conferences so we really really need some help in

Washington

And that's a tough place to be

America's got a lot of issues going on right now

I'm not sure that that's the priority for our law

makers but I will say we haven't engaged with quite

a few congressmen and women and senators on both sides

of the aisle and I feel like we're creating at

least a little bit of momentum here and you know

we all hope that something can occur over the next

can all by by cross college athletics universe

I'm not okay to question based on your confidence

You keep your membership jailer in the conversation

You have the president

Does this mean you're also grand reis will not be

calculated by many of the past three weeks and then

secondly in the next years

Whereas meteorites that are coming to an end there will

be negotiations

We've heard a lot about

being involved in the conversation of the sea

So I can just go by what issues told us

including including in the current time people talk about Oklahoma

texas

I think that's pretty well shaded

Not that's not the case

They're gonna wait for the grant of rights over listening

to u C l A u S C june 30th

and subsequent days after they clearly are going to say

it

In fact well until the is over

So you can yeah you can follow the logic there

I would think that the significance of what that would

mean

Television rights conference owns as well as nine financial reality

I think it I think it holds but your guess

is as good as mine as it relates to tv

partners

I again I don't want I don't want to speculate

about what anyone else we have a relationship with the

understand a valuable relationship and they're the ones that create

a network with us

They're the ones that we are working with you know

commission offer for all these more circles because in the

end it has to add value to your confidence and

you can define a value in different ways

You can find value from an academic standpoint you can

define value about athletic success and competitiveness or they use

research institution

And does it have value to your conference Have values

That's the same exercise

be about football basketball that shame on all of us

comes with that and that's okay

12 years I was in the sec but I lost

in the mid american conference and I know what those

kids did in northern Illinois

The only thing that was different was the name of

the jersey colors

They were just as committed to having a great experience

as those cultures just as committed
