Garner neighbors told WRAL News they saw the same car, a black Nissan Altima, early Monday afternoon and again on Monday evening.
"I had just seen the black car that was supposed to be in the incident and they pulled up for a little while and parked for a little while and I kind of kept my eye on them because I figured that car was kind of new for the neighborhood," neighbor Michael Smith said. "Then, about 20 minutes later, I see them all pull off and law comes knocking on the door around."
It's not clear if the car Smith saw was the same Nissan police described in radio traffic.
The radio traffic indicated the car was stolen with fictious tags.
"It was a bad situation, but I’m glad to see everything’s working out for the woman and the baby," Smith said.
The FBI and SBI were at the home helping with the investigation.
Smith described the Garner neighborhood where he lives.
"Everybody minds their business and works all day and when you add something like that into it, kidnapping, that’s a brand new ball game, so that would definitely get your attention," Smith said.
The investigation is ongoing.
