Jordan Martinook on Rod Brind'Amour's Hall of Fame case: 'He should be'
I'm curious you know Rod has been part of this
organization for so long like 92 out of the 94
playoff wins all time as a player and as a
coach
Just as kind of your guys' leader what's how would
you sort of describe his personality and what he means
to this place Well I think he means everything to
what the Hurricanes is all about
Obviously as a player he embodied what they were and
I think that's just kind of bled over him as
a coach
He's I feel like every team that he's coached we're
so well prepared we know exactly what he wants us
to do and um you know that's just it's obviously
a testament to how how dialed in he is on
day to day stuff
Um and then obviously it comes with uh he's not
everybody thinks he's this big scary intense guy but it's
more of uh like a subtle intensity that everybody's just
kind of on board with what he what he's what
he's saying
And you know uh since he he was part of
the team that that hoisted the cup back in like
'06 when he I mean when he talks you guys
listen because
You know he knows what he's talking about right Yeah
I think any coach that I I don't know I
think Roddy played like 140 or 1500 games
Whenever you have a coach that is a should very
well be a Hall of Famer um you wanna you
wanna listen to what he has to say and I
think the way he was as a player it it
like
Just so dialed in on every detail and that's exactly
like I said how his coaching style is
So um yeah everybody in here listens to what he
has to say and what what all the entire coaching
staff has to say because they're a well prepared group
You think it's only a matter of time before he
is a Hall of Famer Yeah it should be but
obviously there's something going on over there but yeah he
he should be
I don't I don't wanna I don't wanna get myself
in trouble but yeah 100% he should be um you
know the fans have had a blast watching you guys
Two straight sweeps uh I mean overall just kind of
what's been working right now in the postseason for you
guys
Um just everybody giving everything they got in every game
and um I think when you've had we've had some
pretty impressive individual performances um we've had the Stanhon line
just dominate um dominate series both series and um and
then all of us are kind of trying to follow
suit and um I think
It's nice when you have a line that's kind of
driving the driving the ship and then everybody's kind of
trying to jump on board and follow them so um
everybody's everybody's invested everybody knows what they want and um
it's been a lot of fun
I I we miss the fans
It's been it feels like it's been a while since
we've seen them and we want to hear them so
we're excited to get going
Does it feel like this break though has been nice
for you guys to just at least get rested up
a little bit physically and mentally Yeah yeah no it's
nice obviously to to have that rest but um and
then there's another side of it that you're you're watching
games you're you want to be playing you know you're
you're gonna be playing at some point so um it's
It's once you're in a series you're so invested and
your mind goes just uh singular focus it it's nice
to take a step back and kind of decompress but
once you once it's started up everybody's you're you're almost
in like a trance like in a you're you're so
dialed into what what's at what's at stake
