Power outage cancels classes at 2 Chapel Hill schools

A power outage has canceled classes at Estes Hills Elementary School and Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

There will be no school for Estes Hills or Phillips students. Staff members will have a remote workday.

The closure comes as a power outage was determined to be more seriously than initially thought. The restoration time was estimated to be 7 a.m., but that estimate has now been pushed back to 5:30 p.m.

The schools are making arrangements for students who arrived at school before the closure.
