Driver arrested after stealing Amazon van, driving wrong way on I-40

Authorities arrested a driver on Tuesday on Interstate 40 after Raleigh police said the driver stole an Amazon delivery van and drove it the wrong way on the interstate.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, an Amazon driver was making a delivery Tuesday afternoon on West Morgan Street in downtown Raleigh. Police said the driver left the van running with the keys inside, and that’s when the person stole it around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Police spotted the van around Wade Avenue and Blue Ridge Road before it got on I-40 going the wrong way.

Police stopped the van about a mile from the Harrison Avenue exit on I-40 and arrested the driver.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
