to populate this playoff and more often than not get
somebody to come out of it that wins a championship
First of all Notre Dame was included in this subcommittee

Notre Dame's last national championship was 1988 1988 joe Like

they still bring eyeballs man they bring eyeballs

How does 12 make any sense I think you would
help me understand how 12 makes sense
I think you alluded to this earlier in the week
when we had the trial balloon
I think there's something to what you said in terms
of what TV
So forever
We we barely ever got the two best teams in
college football playing for the National Championship
We finally got that under the under the BCS right
Then we went to four teams which I didn't I
don't have any problem with them going slowly
I don't get this leap from 4 to 12
Why It would make sense when eight is just sitting
out there waiting for you in a way and yes
make them automatic qualifiers
You have this in basketball
It's almost like why are you trying to reinvent the
wheel I don't get it
The Notre dame equation is the thing that's going to
get the most attention
And I also think it's the most fascinating one and
the reason why I think it's so fascinating because it
puts Notre dame in a position to see what they
value the most
Okay do they value their independence so much so that
they are willing to forego a buy in the college
football playoff and potentially host a team as the best
they could do is five right that they would rather
Host a team on their home field and potentially play
four games to win a title as opposed to playing
three games to win a title

That to me I think is interesting
The other thing that I find interesting is the calculus
of when do you play your games Because I am
willing to hear this argument from Notre Dame
Well what do you consider a bye week if I'm
not in a conference I skip a conference championship game
I get that week off before you go into the
college football playoff itself where a I'm hosting a team
to and then I would be fresh so to speak
So there is a little bit of a value of
where do you get that time off as well

group that presented this
It would lead me to believe that Notre Dame is
perfectly comfortable with for going a bye week To keep
their independence and look at the larger picture of what's
important to them which again is that independence
And they like their chances of being one of the
12 teams and who knows where you go from there

Five of the last seven years they finished the year
in the top 12 in the Ap final poll
So you figure even with a loss they were there
to begin with
So I don't think this means that Notre dame is
going to be joining the A
